24 Hour Longest Night
Moroso Motor Sports Park
West Palm Beach, Florida
December 28-30, 2001
Qualifying: 1st in class, 3rd overall
Finish: 5th in class, 8th overall.
The #47 SRF was piloted by Kenny Reilly (owner), John Stott, and two
other guys in this 24-hour race. After an impressive qualifying effort,
the team lost a number of laps during hour 6 after an minor "derrangement"
of the front end of the car. (Reilly had mild contact with a competitor,
then tested the forgiveness of a tire wall.) Due to the long pit stop required
to re-arrange the nose, the 47 fell a number of laps behind the leader.
In spite of this challenge, the drivers made a valiant effort to make up
the lost laps, and finished in an admirable position.
Finishing at all in a 24-hour race is a commendable feat, and we're very proud
of our drivers Reilly and Stott our "guest drivers", our crew chief Collins,
crew Mallory and the other people that participated on the crew for this event.
