It's All About Drew!
Drew Staveley is following his dream - driving race cars.
Drew's interest in road racing was sparked at age 10 when he crewed for his family's SCCA team, which achieved multiple championships.
At age 16, he was finally able to get into the drivers seat himself, getting his SCCA license and becoming one of the youngest members of SCCA's Speak Freaks program. His first year racing an ITA Mazda RX-7, plus an A-Sedan ride at the famed June Sprints at Road America, brought him all top-five and three podium finishes. Moving into a Spec Miata the following year, he continued finishing at the front of the pack, and brought home three more trophies.
Supporting his racing habit with jobs as a racecar fabricator and as a driving instructor for Toyota, Jaguar and Danny McKeever's Fast Lane Driving School, Drew moved into pro racing in 2005, competing in the SCCA Pro Miata series. In 2006, the series evolved in to the MX-5 Cup, where he achieved two podium finishes.
2007 marked Drew's debut in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve and the #30 Racers Edge Pontiac GXP.R.
2008 began with Drew co-piloting the Racers Edge Mazda RX-8 in the Grand-Am Rolex 24 at Daytona, but funding limited his participation in the series for the remainder of the year.
Ever determined, in 2009 Drew regrouped, and began his pursuit of Mazda's development program, which begins with a win at the SCCA Runoffs. Behind the wheel of the Apex Motorsports Miata, sponsored by Micom Inc., powered by Mike Haag Engine Design, he's on his way.
